Ecology, Creativity, and Nature Experience
My colleague Lee Beavington, a biologist and exemplary educator, has been working with me to develop a unique university course in creativity and nature experience.

My colleague Lee Beavington, a biologist and exemplary educator, has been working with me over the past several months to develop a unique university course in creativity and nature experience. In this course, which takes place entirely outside, we travel to various locations in nature and explore the interconnected themes of creativity, ecology, sustainability, nature experience, and personal and academic development. We contextualize these creative and academic inquiries and use them to broaden our understanding of the relationship between humanity and the natural world. This is a course for learners who seek to move beyond the classroom, beyond traditional academic structures, and beyond the confines of the human-built environment. Nature is a profound teacher. This course helps us find that teaching.
